We will be viewing the film, “Eyes on the Prize II” by Sam Pollard with a discussion facilitated by Professor Heather Z. Caldwell, Associate Professor at Westfield State University. Balancing carbohydrates are key to managing diabetes. Come learn what a “carb” is, where it is found in food, its role in the body and most importantly, how to incorporate it into your daily meal plan. There will be a One-hour education session and Q&A with instructor and registered dietitian, Marissa Chiapperino, in addition to a Two-hour hands-on cooking activity in which you will prepare and take home 4-5 recipes that align with the educational topic discussed this session.

Participants will review some of the features that make something “cute” -- large eyes with a highlight in the pupil, small mouths, added details like rosy cheeks, eyelashes, freckles, and other details -- and will be encouraged to use their imagination while creating various cute drawings of food (and other things -- like monsters, animals, and more). Our free drop-in sessions with professional genealogists let you get started, get restarted, or look for avenues through brick walls with the help of an expert.  Hillary Schau (February 14) is a born problem-solver with a past career in engineering and teaching and regular presenter and genealogy consultant. While help is available whenever the History Room is open, Hillary can help you dig deeper. She is also an expert on organizing records.  Sign in for a spot when you arrive. One hour, all ages friendly! In this one-hour make-and-take workshop, participants will be led step-by-step through creating colorful and bright hanging felt bird ornaments for them to keep. This project can be used to brighten a room, used as an ornament or wall hanging, or given as a keepsake. Registration required, $10 materials fee.

Last year when my daughter came home saddened that her classmate was being teased over the shoes she was wearing. We immediately sprung into action and collected over 100 pairs of shoes to give to anyone who needed them. Now we’re ready to do it again.
