The Explore Holyoke community calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings and daily specials from restaurants.
Holyoke Farmers’ Market is on every First and Third Saturday from 10am – 2pm on 310 Appleton Street. The winter market begins December 10th and continues to March 18th. The Holyoke Farmers’ Market accepts SNAP and HIP. Spanish interpreter and translations available at every market. The market is co-organized by it’s partners which include the Holyoke Greater Chamber of Commerce, Holyoke Health Center, Mass in Motion, 5210, and the Holyoke Food & Equity Collective.

We'll be hosting a Make & Take Valentine drop-in workshop where you can use our art supplies and templates to craft a valentine of your own design. Frederick Douglass escaped from slavery in 1838 and lived for many years in Massachusetts. He delivered the Fourth of July speech on July 5, 1852, in Rochester, New York, to the Rochester Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society. The most celebrated orator of his day, Douglass' powerful language, resolute denunciations of slavery, and forceful examination of the Constitution challenge us to think about the histories we tell, the values they teach, and if our actions match our aspirations. Join us for a screening of the ViewPoint video highlighting the city of Holyoke. Hosted by Denis Quaid these videos highlight cities across the country. The Holyoke viewPoint video highlights our manufacturing as well as our assets as a tourism city. Interviews in the video include Hazen Paper Company, United Paper Box Company, Peoples Bank, the Springdale Dinner/Cajun ladies and both former Mayor Murphy and current Mayor Garcia. The city is excited to release this video during the 150th Celebration of Holyoke. Doors open at 5:30 - video will screen at 5:50 with a short speaking program.

EDWARD HITCHCOCK was one of 19th-century America's most eminent scientists. He was the first American scientist to publicly embrace the theory of continental glaciation, but he is better known for his landmark research on what he called the "fossil footmarks" of the Connecticut Valley.
