The Explore Holyoke community calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings and daily specials from restaurants.
From Feb. 23-26, Amherst College will host the eighth annual LitFest, a literary festival celebrating fiction, nonfiction, poetry and spoken-word performance, along with the College’s extraordinary literary life. This year’s lineup includes Pulitzer Prize winner Hilton Als, MacArthur Fellowship winner Valeria Luiselli, and 2022 National Book Award finalists Meghan O’Rourke and Ingrid Rojas Contreras, among others.
Explore the world of winter wildlife at Holyoke Heritage State Park. The Visitor Center features an interactive gallery for kids and families to make artful contributions to the “Wildlife Whereabouts” mural. Follow the indoor StoryWalk® Under the Snow as it leads you upstairs to the immigration exhibits. Go on an “Exhibit Quest” scavenger hunt to discover the many visitor center displays. Bring out your artistic talent at the “Winter Birds” coloring table where you can post your creation for all to see. Gateway City Arts presents the RACE STREET BAZAAR starting January 22, 2023! Open to the public EVERY SUNDAY, 10 AM – 2 PM in the large music hall. Our café will be open offering coffee, tea, soda, snacks and pastries for purchase. The BAZAAR will feature used clothing/items, collectibles, housewares, records, books, toys & more! VENDORS: tables cost $25/day or prepay 4 weeks for $20/week. Vendors can share a table or rent multiple tables.
