The Explore Holyoke community events calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city of Holyoke to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings, daily specials from restaurants and events outside the city of Holyoke.
Join us Saturday, March 1st 12pm-3pm at the Artery, 289 High St in Holyoke for an afternoon of dazzling skill and beauty in the work of Mehrnoush Bouzarjmehr.
Born in Iran, though she grew up immersed in art, Bouzarjmehr spent 20 years working in Iran’s delivery rooms as a Midwife, BSC, witnessing the very first cries of thousands of newborns and the tears and smiles of mothers as they embraced their babies for the first time.
In 2017 she immigrated to the United States and began painting her dreams once again on wood and canvas. Since 2000, she has been deeply involved in painting, exploring various techniques such as chalk pastel, oil paint, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, fabric paint, and markers. She has also studied traditional Persian styles like Tazhib (Illumination), Gol-o-Morgh (Bird and Flower), and ancient Persian tile patterns.
Now, her creations reside in the heart of Holyoke, a city full of beauty and soul, where each piece continues to share its story and emotions, waiting to find a new home where it can tell its own tale.
Her work will be on display thru the month of March, gallery hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 11am-5pm
