The Explore Holyoke community events calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city of Holyoke to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings, daily specials from restaurants and events outside the city of Holyoke.
This hands-on make-and-take workshop will combine art appreciation with practice of techniques as we “mimic the masters” by looking closely at Piet Mondrian’s later abstract work. Participants will learn about some of the concepts and ideas behind his body of work then get the chance to practice them, using acrylic paint to create a small work to take home. Participants can work on a piece of their own inspired by Mondrian’s design principles.
