Baking & Pastry Arts

An intensive course designed to prepare students for professional studies in the baking and pastry arts. Focus will be on understanding characteristics of the ingredients used in baking and pastry as well as developing a working knowledge of how ingredients react physically and chemically. Basic baking competence will be developed via hands-on preparation of products through the use of introductory baking methods. Chef coats will be provided. Scholarships are available! Classes will run Tuesday evenings for the spring semester: 1/17-5/9

Holyoke Farmers’ Market is on every First and Third Saturday from 10am – 2pm on 310 Appleton Street. The winter market begins December 10th and continues to March 18th. The Holyoke Farmers’ Market accepts SNAP and HIP. Spanish interpreter and translations available at every market. The market is co-organized by it’s partners which include the Holyoke Greater Chamber of Commerce, Holyoke Health Center, Mass in Motion, 5210, and the Holyoke Food & Equity Collective.

Wolfman Jack comes to The Divine Theater with special opener, Shantyman! Wolfman Jack is a live music project of veteran musicians from the New England area performing the psychedelic and electrifying Live Dead era of The Grateful Dead. A true dance band in the style of such legendary venues as The Fillmore West, Carousel Ballroom and Avalon Ballroom. They recreate those vintage sets from when the Grateful Dead were first cutting their teeth as a live music act. Don’t miss it! Stop into Judd’s Restaurant for dinner or to the Bistro for snacks!

Gateway City Arts presents the RACE STREET BAZAAR starting January 22, 2023! Open to the public EVERY SUNDAY, 10 AM – 2 PM in the large music hall. Our café will be open offering coffee, tea, soda, snacks and pastries for purchase. The BAZAAR will feature used clothing/items, collectibles, housewares, records, books, toys & more! VENDORS: tables cost $25/day or prepay 4 weeks for $20/week.
