Shadow, Sound, Spectacle: Literary Monsters

September 20, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Step into the shadows at Wistariahurst.

One night only—step into a world where shadows sing and monsters speak. On September 20, the historic halls of Wistariahurst will come alive with Literary Monsters—a queer, multi-sensory performance blending shadow puppetry, live music, and gothic literature.

Created and performed by singer-songwriter Jess Martin, puppeteer Amy West, and multi-instrumentalist/performer Abby Hanna, this immersive evening invites you to see classic monsters through a lens of identity, queerness, and transformation. Expect vivid storytelling, original music, and arresting visuals that pull you into a dreamlike space between page and stage.

Whether you’re drawn by the timeless lure of Frankenstein, the eerie charm of Dracula, or the thrill of discovering something entirely new, this performance promises a night of enchantment and connection.

This event is supported in part by a grant from the Holyoke Local Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, as well as Wistariahurst.

Reserve your spot now—seating is limited, and once the shadows rise, there’s no turning back.
