The Explore Holyoke community events calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city of Holyoke to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings, daily specials from restaurants and events outside the city of Holyoke.

Wistariahurst is joining thousands of schools and organizations across the country to celebrate Civic Learning Week, March 9–15. This event will kick off a series of upcoming events about our civic rights and responsibilities this year of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Civic education is essential to ensuring each and every person across this country is equipped with the necessary tools to engage as members of our self-governing society.
This Recognition Ceremony will honor the work of Holyoke educators Vanessa Martínez and Nicolas Cream.
Vanessa Martínez, professor of anthropology at Holyoke Community College has taken the following steps to prioritize civic learning. Martínez encourages students to get involved in and advocate for their communities. Her academic work is rooted in cultural humility and teaches students how they can learn more about community
organizations and use their skills to raise awareness and fundraise for community needs.
Nicholas Cream, Ethnic Studies and history teacher at Dean Technical High School and president of the Holyoke Teachers Association has also encouraged civic learning and participation. Throughout his career, Cream has taught his students about the importance of civic engagement. He has also advocated for teachers in his community, striving to improve education in Holyoke.

Wistariahurst se une a miles de escuelas y organizaciones de todo el país para celebrar la Semana del Aprendizaje Cívico, del 9 al 15 de marzo. Este evento dará inicio a una serie de actividades sobre nuestros derechos y responsabilidades cívicas en este año en que se celebra el 250 aniversario de los Estados Unidos.La educación cívica es esencial para garantizar que todas y cada una de las personas de este país cuenten con las herramientas necesarias para participar como miembros de nuestra sociedad autónoma.
Vanessa Martínez, profesora de antropología en el Holyoke Community College, ha tomado las siguientes medidas para dar prioridad al aprendizaje cívico. Martínez anima a los estudiantes a involucrarse y defender sus comunidades. Su trabajo académico se basa en la humildad cultural y enseña a los estudiantes cómo pueden aprender más sobre las organizaciones comunitarias y utilizar sus habilidades para crear conciencia y recaudar fondos para las necesidades de la comunidad.
Nicholas Cream, profesor de Estudios Étnicos e Historia en la Escuela Técnica Dean y presidente de la Asociación de Profesores de Holyoke, también ha fomentado el aprendizaje y la participación cívicos. A lo largo de su carrera, Cream ha enseñado a sus alumnos la importancia del compromiso cívico. También ha defendido a los profesores de su comunidad, esforzándose por mejorar la educación en Holyoke.
