The Explore Holyoke community calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings and daily specials from restaurants.
Muscle Tough, Philadelphia’s premier futuristic funk fusion trio will play the Divine Theater at Gateway City Arts Wednesday, June 21. City of Four will open the show.
Muscle Tough specializes in a heavily improvised blend of modal jazz, funk, and rocking psychedelia. Their creative use of sound design and group-minded improvisation blurs the line between their originals and quirky pop classics.
“Tough Transmissions,” a recent collection of hilariously titled one-minute songs, showcases the trio’s lack of musical boundaries and deep comedic undercurrents.
With a revolving door of guests including members of Phish, MMW, Dopapod, Lotus, Snarky Puppy, and DJ Logic, along with a reputation for their sprawling late-night sets, Muscle Tough invites audiences around the world to GET TOUGH!
City of Four brings an original brand of modern groove-based jazz, funk, and fusion to music venues across Boston and New England. The band has received an “Outstanding Performance” recognition from Downbeat Magazine as a Blues/Pop/Rock group. Some of the original music in its catalog has also been recognized by ASCAP and MIX Magazine.
This unique colorful book includes our Holyoke history, the City Hall dedication, all community events throughout the year, and highlights the Masquerade Ball and the closing of the Time Capsule in December.
