Holyoke – The WATER City Tour

August 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Converting the power of falling water to usable energy takes age-old technology. It’s what birthed Holyoke, and continues to power the city to this day.  An introduction to waterpower and the vision of Holyoke’s founders begins in the Holyoke Heritage State Park Visitor Center. The tour continues outside as we walk along the first level canal. Our 1/4 mile walk terminates at Open Square where we will get to see the turbines that once powered Lyman mill, still servicing the many businesses located in Open Square.
Limited to 20 participants.
Registration required. (413) 534-1723 or nancy.condon@mass.gov
Meet at the Visitor Center.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
