The Explore Holyoke community events calendar highlights the arts and cultural events throughout the city of Holyoke to help plan your visit. You are invited to submit your event. Events encouraged to be submitted are art openings, dance concerts, open mic events, cultural lectures. Events not allowed on the calendar are, political fundraisers, city meetings, daily specials from restaurants and events outside the city of Holyoke.
The Holyoke Taxpayers Association is pleased to announce the plans for a DEBATE FORUM between the nine City Council At Large certified candidates for the six City Council At Large seats in addition to a Debate between the two certified candidates for the one School Committee At Large seats.
Date: October 19, 2023
The Debate/Forum will be held at Holyoke High North in the Auditorium on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The doors will open at 5:30 with the debate itself starting promptly at 6:00 p,m, All questions will be asked of the candidates by the Moderator. The Moderator holds all rights to question each candidate further if he deems necessary.
Immediately following the Forum with the At Large City Council Candidates, there will be a Debate between the two certified At Large Candidates for the School Committee open seat.
Thomas Rochford Creed, will be the Moderator. An Executive Vice President of TD Bank, Mr. Creed is a resident of Holyoke, a member of the Holyoke Redevelopment Authority, and has served in various volunteer capacities locally for many years.
Mr. Creed will be working with the Holyoke Taxpayers Association in developing the questions for the event. As a resident of Holyoke Mr. Creed is tied into the local community, is aware of the many issues facing the City Council, and has the insight available of people who work inside and outside of Holyoke.
This new indoor club will feature 15 fenced courts, a pro shop, and a snack bar, offering outdoor-style play with indoor benefits. Construction starts soon, with an opening planned for late 2025 near JCPenney.
