The Carlos Vega Fund is proud to bring the 2024 Grant Announcement event back to the Wistariahurst Museum, home of the Carlos Vega Archives.
This year, 13 organizations will be receiving funds between $400 and $2000 to support social justice work and events in the Greater Holyoke area.
Since 2012, the Carlos Vega Fund for Social Justice has awarded $66,570 to 52 organizations in the Greater Holyoke area who are fighting for justice and building community. You can find a complete list of our grantees and more information about our Fund on our website: www.carlosvegafund.org.
The event in the beautiful music room at the Wistariahurst Museum will start at 3pm with the program starting promptly at 3:30pm. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Carlos Vega was an ardent activist for civil rights, community-building, education, healthcare, and social justice in Holyoke. The donor-advised fund, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, was started in 2010 to honor Carlos on his 60th birthday and to continue his 40-year legacy by awarding small grants to nonprofit organizations through an annual competitive process.
The mini-grants – which aim to address injustice, oppression, and poverty in the greater Holyoke area particularly for those who are marginalized by our society – fund initiatives that foster change and promote empowerment; self-help; and economic, political, and social justice.
