SUMMARY:CELTIC MUSIC SESSION\, FREE!
DESCRIPTION:Celtic Musicians Welcome! Kira Jewitt + John Tabb/ Leads! \nJohn Tabb on button accordion\, Kira Jewett on fiddle and Jim Bunting on guitar\, vocals and bouzouki.  Together they play traditional tunes with tight\, driving rhythm\, interspersed with Jim’s unique take on Ireland’s song repertoire.   \nJohn Tabb is well known throughout southern New England for his box playing and leads weekly sessions at the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England. He has performed with The Healys\, The Dustmen and his dad Chris Tabb\, and appears on the recording Apples in Winter.  Kira Jewett started playing classically when she was just three years old\, but fell in love with the music of Ireland in her 20s and studied extensively with the virtuoso fiddler Brian Conway.  She is the 2003 All-Ireland fiddle Slow Airs Champion.  Singer and rhythm player Jim Bunting is an avid local session player who brings a sensitive touch and driving rhythm to the band.

SUMMARY:EX-TEMPER + SPEEDFOSSIL WITH SPECIAL GUEST GOLDSETTER
DESCRIPTION:Ex-Temper creates pivoting\, unpredictable\, guitar-driven rock layered with catchy melodies and three-part vocal harmonies. Once described as “Fugazi meets the Andrews Sisters” and credited with playing “heavy\, head-banging riffs\,” their lyrics explore everything from heartbreak and obsession\, to prominent social issues like police brutality\, mass shootings\, the inefficiency of white guilt\, and mansplaining; as well as mysteries like the Green Children of Woolpit\, and existential questions such as if an organ donor’s consciousness or memories can be transplanted into the recipient’s mind. \nPsychedelic\, thumping\, melodic\, and driving\, Goldsetter’s music doesn’t take us where each song should go\, but where it can. Song after song melds divergence and syncopates throughlines within their extensive musical influences to create a sound both familiar and unexpected. Epic without excess this is heartfelt\, fierce\, fun music as likely to part the clouds as it is to crash the cupboard.Francesco Muri (vox\, keys); Sam Hankins (drums); Georgia Rae Teensma (vox\, guitar); Aaron Noble (vox\, guitar); Mike Parham (bass). Northampton/Hadley\, MA. \nOnce Boston’s best-kept secret\, Speedfossil\, the creation of singer/songwriter Garret Vandermolen\, is on the verge of breaking out of New England with their third LP\, and Red on Red Records debut release\, NO ANESTHESIA. The band has been hailed by fans and critics alike as a return of great pop songwriting in the vein of The Replacements\, The Kinks\, The Beatles\, The Smithereens\, even the Ventures. Metronome Magazine stated that Speedfossil is “an impeccable rock band that\, without question\, can hang with the best.” The line-up of the band to date\, with Garret (vocals/guitar/keyboards) Michael Scotti (bass\, vocals) Dan Jordan (guitar/vocals\,) and Hector Saint-Hilaire (drums)\, have all been working together since late 2018. \nJudd’s Restaurant at Gateway City Arts is open for dinner the night of the show\, make a reservation here!

SUMMARY:EDDIE SATURN FEAT. WHYTRI\, MALIK ELIJAH\, AND THE BITTER DUO
DESCRIPTION:From Saturn to Western Massachusetts to Los Angeles\, California\, EDDIE SATURN has moved around for one mission: to spread love and human growth throughout Earth. In 11 years of his art career in Massachusetts\, EDDIE was a producer for a lot of artists like his old hip hop group DUBSEE and the founder of the Pass the Soul festival.. There he worked with artists like ANSON RAP$\, DJ Lucas\, Donny Darkpop & MUDA! He is now based out of the LA area. \nEDDIE SATURN is walking revenge of the hopeless romantic\, revenge of the nerd\, and revenge of the 80s. His dreamy + nostalgic music\, influenced by 80s pop\, 90s hip hop\, and punk music hides his real age. On the same hand he is a kid at heart drawing from the cartoons he watches\, like Ed\, Edd n Eddy\, and video games he plays\, like Kingdom Hearts. EDDIE SATURN believes in a higher power in the cosmos + talks about good + evil like sides in a Star Wars flick. If he is from the planet he got his last name from\, then EDDIE SATURN’s “true alien form” would be all blue.EDDIE SATURN’s songs range from aggravated responses to the darkside + mental health like in his song ‘CURAGA…’ to beautiful lush guitar driven ballads like his previously released single ‘VACATION…’ His influences also have a vast range from Prince to Andre 3000 to the Ramones to Grimes.

SUMMARY:Seamus Egan: Traditional Irish Music
DESCRIPTION:It’s hard to think of an artist in traditional Irish music more influential than Seamus Egan. From his beginnings as a teen prodigy\, to his founding of Irish-American powerhouse band Solas in 1996\, to his current work as one of the leading composers and interpreters of the tradition\, Egan has inspired multiple generations of musicians and helped define the sound of Irish music today. \nIn 2018\, with Solas on hiatus\, Egan began touring as a solo performer\, bringing along friends and musical guests\, and making music as Seamus Egan Project that points towards the origins of Solas in the 1990s. In 2020\, he released Early Bright hailed as “A perfect balance of energetic and wistful\, modern and traditional\, Early Bright finds Egan weaving all his disparate musical strands into an emotionally powerful whole.” – Acoustic Guitar \nhttps://www.seamuseganproject.com/ \nJudd’s Restaurant at Gateway City Arts is open for dinner the night of the show\, make a reservation here

SUMMARY:Nerd Nite Holyoke!
DESCRIPTION:May the Fourth be with you! \nThis month we’re heading back out to a long time ago and far\, far away. \nEmily Rome \nThe Wacky History of Restoration-Era Shakespeare Performance \nA happy ending for “King Lear\,” opera numbers for the “Macbeth” witches\, and a mash-up of “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Measure for Measure.” No\, these are not new pitches for a Hollywood movie but actual 17th-century adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays. Come learn how political upheaval not long after Shakespeare’s death and the reopening of London theaters in 1660 have defined Shakespeare’s legacy. \nEmily Rome is an educator and journalist currently based in Berkshire County. For over three years\, she was the co-boss of Nerd Nite Los Angeles\, until she ventured across the pond to earn a Shakespeare Studies MA in the Bard’s hometown\, Stratford-upon-Avon. She’s written for such publications as the Los Angeles Times\, Entertainment Weekly\, and American Theatre. As an educator\, Emily has done work with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust\, the Seattle Shakespeare Company\, and Smithsonian Associates. She is host of the podcast Shakespeare’s Shadows\, which will relaunch with new episodes in Fall 2023. Emily is an enthusiast of the Seattle Storm\, iced coffee\, time travel\, and\, of course\, Shakespeare. \nRob Mancini \n“Why Jizz Happened\,” a look at the musical history of Star Wars and how it influenced the atmosphere of the movies. \nBeen a fan of Star Wars since I rented Return of the Jedi as a child because I saw Jim Henson was involved. Having been on the internet for the better part of my life\, ai have waded into the Death Star trenches of online “discourse.” I know what a Wookie-Ookie is and have\, for better or for worse\, retained far too much trivia about the material. Rob Mancini \nDoors open at 7pm\, presentations start at 7:30. Donations are $5 suggested. Taken on site via QR code. \nCome early to have dinner and drinks at Judds across the hall! \n
