SUMMARY:Bab L' Bluz
DESCRIPTION:Bab L’ Bluz (literally “The door of the Blues”) are reclaiming the blues for North Africa. Fronted by an African-Moroccan woman in a traditionally male role\, the band are devoted to a revolution in attitude which dovetails with Morocco’s ‘nayda’ youth movement – a new wave of artists and musicians taking their cues from local heritage\, singing words of freedom in the Moroccan-Arabic dialect of darija. Ancient and current\, funky and rhythmic\, buoyed by Arabic lyrics\, soaring vocals and bass-heavy grooves\, Nayda! seems to pulse from the heart of the Maghreb. \nArmed with their electric guembris\, Bab L’ Bluz resonates a mixture of Gnawa trance  rhythms\, Hassani songs from southern Morocco and Chaabi polyrhythms\, propelling their  music into the magnetic fields of psychedelic rock and volutes of incense.  Led by a woman doukkalia\, the group wants to carry a revolution of attitude being part of  the movement of the Moroccan youth “Nayda”\, a new wave of artists and committed  musicians who are inspired by the local heritage and sing texts of freedom in the Moroccan Arabic dialect\, the darija. \nVery active since its creation\, the power quartet travels the globe to distill its hypnotic riffs  and spread its mystical and liberating headbanging frenzy to its audience – a true signature  of the group. \nPoetic and powerful\, Bab L’ Bluz is an expanding universe\, a sonic territory that transcends  boundaries. \nIn 2020\, Bab L’ Bluz made a stunning entrance on the music scene with the album Nayda!  Mojo Top 10 world Album of the year\, Songlines Best albums of 2020\, The New York Times\,  Vogue Arabia\, BBC\, Le Monde\, Financial Time\, Pan African Music\, Uncut\, Radio Nova or Arte  Concert… \nIn 2021\, Bab L’ Bluz won his first Songlines Music Awards and then began a world tour which  is still ongoing (Europe\, Africa\, America\, Oceania). \nAfter almost constant touring the band released their second album ‘Swaken’ in May 2024\,  to more critical acclaim. The album’s eleven tracks spark and pulse with kinetic\, pedal-to the-metal energy and takes the listener to a place that shakes us up\, to bring us peace.

Rolling Stone named Lizzie one of their “Future 25” artists of the year\, and country ballad “The Heartbreak Store” was nominated for International Song of the Year at the Americana UK awards. The ‘Halfsies’ tour made stops all across the United States and Europe\, including shows with Iron & Wine and Dispatch. \n“simultaneously understated and fervent.” ~ Billboard Magazine. \nKimaya Diggs is an emerging artist and songwriter from Western Massachusetts. Her new album “Quincy” explores Diggs’ unique style of Soul\, Folk\, and R&B. Diggs was nominated in the “Best New Artist” and “Album of the Year” categories at the 2023 New England Music Awards\, “Female Performer of the Year” in 2021\, and was recently honored as one of 10 artists of color making a difference in the Boston area by WBUR. This is the launch party. \nPRINCE OF QUEENS\, Felipe Quiroz\, is a Colombian-born\, NYC-raised producer\, DJ\, and multi-instrumentalist blending the city’s trans-Caribbean energy into a fresh sonic identity. His sound fuses deep house and techno with tropical disco\, cumbia\, and merengue — a unique take on underground dance music through the lens of a Colombian immigrant. With his latest EP Merida on Brooklyn’s Razor-N-Tape\, POQ invites you to a dance floor where vintage tropical vibes meet modular synths. Prince of Queens has held residencies at Brooklyn’s Black Flamingo\, Jupiter Disco\, with his “Tropical Past and Future” party. He’s also played iconic venues and clubs including Central Park SummerStage\, Public Records\, Good Room and many more. \nDEEJAY THEORY (ORIGINAL TING MUSIC\, MA)\, a New England native by way of San Francisco\, has been swimming in international musical waters for most of his adult life. The electrifying rhythms and explosive performances by these six world-class musical artists have captivated audiences across the globe\, on stages and in festivals such as Salsa al Parque in Bogotá\, Colombia; Portamérica Latitudes in Guadalajara\, Mexico; Las Fiestas del Pitic in Hermosillo\, Mexico; Sunfest in London\, Ontario\, Canada; Feria de Cali\, Sevijazz\, the Colsubsidio Theater in Bogotá; BIME Spain; Madrid; Barcelona; and they closed last year with a presentation before 12\,000 people in the Zócalo of Mexico City. \nPerformed on vibraphone\, percussion\, bass\, piano\, and vocals\, the music of Las Guaracheras communicates joy\, memory\, and transformation while encouraging listeners to dance\, sing\, and reflect on the feelings that music inspires.

As multi-instrumentalist members of Irish-American supergroup Solas\, they combined to create part of the group’s unmistakeable early sound which garnered critical worldwide acclaim with the Boston Herald heralding Solas as “The Best Traditional Band in the World”. Over the last several years\, Doyle and McAuley have toured extensively as a duet all over Europe and the U.S. and have recently recorded and released a new and exciting album of original and traditional songs and tunes which range from explosive instrumental sets to heart-rending and beautiful ballads. Individually\, they have played and recorded with some of the most respected musical artists in the world and are\, themselves\, among the most highly regarded musicians in the Irish folk world.

DESCRIPTION:Securely ranked among Scotland’s most skilled and imaginative contemporary folk acts\, Breabach unite deep roots in Highland and Island tradition with the innovative musical ferment of their Glasgow base. They have released seven increasingly acclaimed albums\, whilst fuelling their creative appetites in collaborations with indigenous Australasian artists Moana and the Tribe & The Black Arm Band\, Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord\, video game composer Big Giant Circles and as artists-in-residence at the 2019 Celtic Colours festival with Cape Bretoners\, Beolach. 2020 saw the introduction of the supremely talented\, multi-instrumentalist Conal McDonagh to the band which coincided with the production and release of ‘Dùsgadh’\, a newly commissioned short film in with original score in collaboration with BAFTA award winning animator Cat Bruce. \nTheir 17 year adventure has included live performances from Sydney Opera House to Central Park NY. They have racked up an impressive array of accolades including five Scots Trad Music Awards\, nominations as ‘Best Group’ in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and ‘European Album of the Year’ in The Songlines Music Awards. The band was also nominated as Best Group in the BBC Scotland Trad awards in 2022. Their 7th studio album Fàs was produced by renowned musician Inge Thompson (Karine Polwart\, Hen Hoose\, Northern Flyway) in 2022.
