Cornucopia Natural Wellness Market Opens Its Doors in Holyoke
After four decades in Northampton, Cornucopia Natural Wellness Market has a new home, and it’s right here in Holyoke!
The independently owned market officially opened on July 24 at 384 Dwight St, following a ribbon cutting the next day that drew loyal customers with deals and samples throughout the afternoon. For most of its history, Cornucopia was a fixture in the basement of Thornes Marketplace in downtown Northampton. Rising costs and shifting shopping habits made that location unsustainable, and owners Nate Clifford and Jade Jump spent more than a year searching for a new site before landing on Holyoke.

A Bigger Home for Cornucopia
The new storefront is a 3,000 square foot former factory space, about a third larger than Cornucopia’s previous location. Tall factory windows fill the room with natural light, and whitewashed brick walls with teal accents give the space an open, welcoming feel that’s a departure from the cozy basement aisles customers knew in Northampton.
The extra room means wider aisles that are easier to navigate for shoppers using wheelchairs, along with space for future additions, including a kitchen planned to prepare fresh foods and highlight local produce. For now, shelves are stocked with organic groceries, supplements, body care products, incense, crystals, and locally made goods, along with a bulk foods section where customers can scoop exactly what they need in tea, herbs, spices, and nuts, cutting down on packaging waste.

Staying True to Their Roots
Nate and Jade have owned Cornucopia since 2019, continuing a legacy built by original founders Bud Stockwell and Sydney Flu. The store’s standards haven’t changed with the move: no artificial flavors, no pesticides, no genetically modified ingredients. The market also accepts SNAP benefits and carries affordable options through a partnership with the organic grocery brand Cadia, part of the owners’ effort to make healthy food accessible to more of the community.
The relocation was supported in part by financing from the Massachusetts Food Trust Program, which helped fund roughly $500,000 in renovations to the long vacant Dwight Street building.

Why Holyoke
Holyoke has been identified by the state as an area with limited access to fresh, nutritious groceries, and the Dwight Street location sits centrally among hundreds of nearby apartments, many of them recently redeveloped. For Clifford and Jump, it was a chance to fill a real need while staying close to the Pioneer Valley customers who have supported them for years.
