August 9, 2023

HOLYOKE, MA – Continuing efforts for its 150th Anniversary…. the city of Holyoke is collecting items for a time capsule, silent auction, and stories for the commemorative book. Organizers are currently  looking for suggestions on what to include in the time capsule. On September 15th the public comment time-period for the time-capsule will close. You can submit your ideas at https://www.exploreholyoke.com/submit-time-capsule/ while there is still time.

Pre-sales for the Holyoke 150th Commemorative Book will begin in September. Watch for your opportunity to purchase this beautiful book that highlights the city’s history and focuses on the events of 2023. Filled with photos and stories written by event organizers, business owners, and community leaders, this will be a book to pass down to future generations.

Have you been to Wisty Wednesdays?! Or The Armour Yard on Mondays this summer? There’s still time! In addition to bi-weekly gatherings at the Wistariahurst Museum or the Monday night at the beer garden on Race Street, organizers have been hard at work planning for A Day in the Yoke which will feature the return of Doors Open Holyoke, The Great Holyoke Brick Race, Paper City Food Festival with the addition of 413s Finest Car Show and Pioneer Valley Makers Faire, The Holyoke Farmers Market on Saturday, October 14th. These events are held in various location downtown throughout the day, details can be found at  exploreholyoke.com

And now without further ado! On Saturday, October 28th Holyoke will hold its 150th Gala, a masquerade ball in the historic City Hall Ballroom. This event, Organized by the Friends of City Hall and the 150th Gala Committee, will feature food by Log Rolling, an open bar, valet parking, music by the Maxxtones, a silent auction, and more. Tickets will be available soon. Save the date! You won’t want to miss this once in a lifetime event.
