SUMMARY:Holyoke's Historic Canals and Dam Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the park interpreter for a 2-hour walk along Holyoke’s canal system. Meet at the Holyoke Heritage State Park Visitor Center. Tour starts with a bit of historical background. Along our route see headraces\, tailraces\, intakes\, a Boyden Turbine assembly\, flywheels\, and get an eyeball tour of Holyoke Gas and Electric’s dam complex. Maps of the canal system are available. Distance: 2.0 miles. \nProgram is free and open to all.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather. Severe weather cancels. \nRegistration suggested by calling 413-534-1723. This tour is also offered on November 8 and November 15. \nPlease note: Free parking lot on Appleton Street is still accessible despite road closure signage.

SUMMARY:Workshop - Sassy Self-Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Learn to design\, draw\, and paint your own Sassy Dame on a canvas — this is a make & take workshop where each participant will be walked through the process of creating a Sassy Dame based on yourself (or your bestie\, we don’t mind). Materials will be provided for use during class\, and one small square canvas is included in the class cost (participants are welcome to bring additional canvases if they would like). \nThis class is taught by the Sassy Dame herself\, Anne Thalheimer! She is an educator\, artist\, and activist supporting survivors of gun violence. Her activism is about leaving the world a better place and taking responsibility for fixing what is broken.
