DESCRIPTION:The Children’s Museum at Holyoke is hosting their 3rd Annual Summer Book Fair on August 15th\, 16th\, and 17th from 10:00 – 4:00 each day. Enjoy free activities\, storytime\, healthy snacks and beverages\, an exciting selection of raffles\, and THOUSANDS of books for all ages! \nThe event is free and open to the public\, where every family is invited to come and partake in the Book Fair on a ‘Pay-What-You-Can’ model by choosing a sliding scale donation amount in exchange for books. No child or family leaves empty handed! \nAccess to reading materials can vary for children once the school year has ended. This is especially true in places considered to be “Book Deserts”\, this event is aims to make an accessible literary oasis!

DESCRIPTION:Join the park interpreter for a 2-hour walk along Holyoke’s canal system. We explore engineering prowess\, mill operation\, historic visionaries\, and the power of water as we walk along parts of the first and second level canals of this fascinating planned industrial city. \nAlong the way we will see headraces\, tailraces\, intakes\, a Boyden Turbine assembly\, flywheels\, and get an eyeball tour of Holyoke Gas and Electric’s dam complex. Maps of the canal system are available. Distance: 2.0 miles. \nMeet at the Visitor Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather. Rain or extreme heat cancels. DESCRIPTION:Summit 1202 and Holyoke parks and rec will be having a community gathering hike at Mount tom Saturday August 16th. We will be meeting at the parking lot before the log cabin in Holyoke\, MA. This is not a tour guided hike. Just a community gathering for those who are interested as this could be a challenging hike for some. If you do not think you can make the hike please do not come just for safety purposes. This is a goodway to start new friendships and possibly a new hobby. Hope to see you there ! Note: We will be meeting at 11 am and start hiking at 12 pm.
