SUMMARY:Book Discussion: We Do This 'Til We Free Us
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow readers for the next book discussion group at Wistariahurst beginning June 10th\, 2025. Readers will dive into “We Do This ‘Til We Free Us- Abolitionist Organizing and Transforming Justice” by Mariame Kaba. This powerful collection of essays and interviews\, woven together by Kaba covers topics including abolition\, liberation\, and political struggle. \nThis book discussion ties into the exhibit Prison Reimagined\, currently on view at Wistariahurst Museum through June 2025. Prison Reimagined features a series of portraits of U.S. presidents and writing pieces that touch on people’s experiences within the prison system. \nJoining each meeting will be a member of the incarcerated community who will weigh in on the discussion. Readers will meet 6 times every other week\, with our first meeting on Tuesday\, June 10 at 5:30 pm. The following schedule outlines the book discussion group meetings\, each meeting at 5:30pm: \n\nTuesday\, June 10 \, having read Part 1\nTuesday\, June 24\, having read Part 2 & Part 3\nTuesday\, July 8\, having read Part 4\nTuesday\, July 22\, having read Part 5\nTuesday\, August 5\, having read Part 6\nTuesday\, August 19\, having read Part 7\n\nWe Do This ‘Til We Free Us” is available for free as an ebook through the Libby app or as an audiobook and ebook through the Hoopla app. Check with your local public library if you need help accessing the book through these apps. SUMMARY:Holyoke - Corridor Improvements on High and Maple Streets - Public Meeting
DESCRIPTION:PURPOSE: The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an update on the proposed corridor Improvements on High and Maple Streets project and solicit input. All views and comments made at the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent practical. \nPROPOSAL: The proposed project consists of transportation safety and mobility improvements along the High Street and Maple Street corridors from South Street to Lyman Street in Downtown Holyoke. The project is still in the preliminary design phase. At the project meeting\, MassDOT and their team will provide an update on the project status\, share preliminary design concepts\, and solicit feedback from the community to help to inform the further development of the design.
