DESCRIPTION:On June 19th\, join Wistariahurst Museum and Genuine Culture in the gardens as we host our annual Juneteenth event\, Celebrate Juneteenth! This event commemorates freedom and the country’s second independence day through community and celebration. Wistariahurst and Genuine Culture are excited to collaborate once again to bring back this celebration for the third year. Enjoy activities throughout Wistariahurst’s grounds. Play games in the gardens\, get creative with hands-on art projects\, and get your face painted! There’s something for everyone\, with activities for people of all ages to participate in. \nThis event will feature performances including lively music from the Young@Heart choir\, who “prove you can grow old without growing boring.” The Bethlehem Baptists will also share song and spoken word performances. DJ Pzo Pete will provide tunes throughout the event that will get you dancing! When you finally work up an appetite after all of this fun and games\, we will have local food vendors to satisfy your cravings. White Lion Brewing Co. will be serving up beverages galore with 10 drinks on tap. Souper Sweet will be serving up sandwiches and soups to guests as well. \nTreat yourself by shopping for an array of products from crystals to jewelry. Black owned businesses\, makers\, and artists will be selling a variety of locally made items. Local organizations will also have tables at the event\, giving you the opportunity to learn about their initiatives\, and what work they’re doing in the community. \nJuneteenth serves as a poignant reminder of the remarkable resilience of Black lives\, symbolizing the challenges and victories of formerly enslaved individuals striving for unity\, education\, and political engagement during the Reconstruction period. So mark your calendars and bring your friends and family to Wistariahurst Museum on June 19th\, 2025 12:00-3:00pm! It’s going to be a day filled with joy\, laughter and a whole lot of celebration. Let’s make memories\, honor history\, and uplift the voices of the Black community in Holyoke. Best of all\, admission to this celebration is completely free and open to the public! SUMMARY:É.T.É Celebrating the Joie de Vivre of Québecois Culture
DESCRIPTION:Awarded the OPUS prize for “Discovery of the Year 2017-2018”\, among many other accolades since their first album release in 2017\, this trio is quickly winning over the hearts of listeners worldwide\, young and old alike. É.T.É are Élisabeth (fiddle\, step-dancing\, vocals)\, Thierry\n(bouzouki\, podorythmie\, vocals)\, and Élisabeth (cello\, vocals). The word été in French means summer–a fitting tribute to how their original\, lively take on Québec traditional music is infused with a new vitality. \nThe fruitful meeting of three young musicians with vibrant artistic journeys\, É.T.É propose a dynamic and contemporary vision of Québécois trad music. With influences from jazz\, progressive rock\, and classical music\, they create their own trad universe with original compositions and unique arrangements of Québécois and Acadian repertoire. Their rich vocal harmonies\, their groove\, their ease at their instruments and their electrifying simpatico onstage transforms the ordinary kitchen party into an unforgettable show! \nFollowing the release of their first album Le boire des minuits in 2017\, É.T.É won the “Emerging” prize from Grands prix Desjardins de la culture de Lanaudière in 2017; “Discovery of the Year” from OPUS 2017-2018; the “People’s Choice” prize from Cabaret festif in 2018; the Linda Lemay award from Festival international de la chanson de Granby 2019; and a “Lucien” from GAMIQ (Québec Independent Music Awards) in 2020. Their second album\, Les quatre roses\, was nominated at both OPUS and ADISQ in 2020. The group has toured extensively throughout Canada\, the USA\, Scotland\, Belgium and Australia. Their most recent album\, Sur ces eaux\, was released in November2022.
