SUMMARY:Voices from the Inside Reading at Wistariahurst
DESCRIPTION:Voices from the Inside (VFI)  engages women and girls who have been incarcerated or who are at risk of incarceration through writing. The organization encourages these writers to find their voices and cultivate leadership through creative writing workshops. VFI’s work lies in core principles: “everyone has a strong unique voice; everyone is born with creative genius; writing as an art form belongs to all people\, regardless of economic class or educational level; the teaching of craft can be done without damage to a writer’s original voice or artistic self-esteem and; a writer is someone who writes.” VFI also encourages their participants to share their work in presentations\, conversations\, and performances as part of their Voices Carry initiative. Wistariahurst Museum is excited to host one of these presentations. The Voices from the Inside reading at Wistariahurst will be held Saturday\, May 17\, 1:00-2:00.
