SUMMARY:Mother's Day Market at Wistariahurst Museum
DESCRIPTION:Soak up the sun and shop for gifts and goodies for mom- or yourself!  Wistariahurst Museum welcomes spring with our second annual Mother’s Day Market being held Saturday\, May 3rd\, 10:00 am-1:00 pm. Our Mother’s Day Market features local vendors selling a variety of products such as art\, jewelry\, food\, and other amazing items. Vendors will be stationed outdoors in Wistariahurst’s gardens\, weather permitting. If the April showers trickle into May\, then vendors will be located indoors throughout the first floor of the museum. Guests are welcome inside the Carriage house as well\, where they can shop our gift shop\, take photos in the carriage\, and view the frog circus. The fun doesn’t stop there! Wander around the first floor of the museum for special Mother’s Day activities and games! \nWistariahurst’s gardeners will also be hosting the first On-Site Plant Sale of the year during the market this year from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Pre-ordering for plants by Wednesday\, April 30th\, is required to pick up your plants during the market. Otherwise\, visitors are welcome to order plants during the market to be picked up at a later date. Proceeds from purchases made from our plant sale or gift shop purchases go towards funding for future programs that you will see at Wistariahurst Museum\, so you can support your local museum while buying a sweet gift for your special someone. \nWistariahurst Museum’s 2nd annual Mother’s Day Market offers something for everyone. From textile pieces and prints\, to candles and crystals- you’re bound to find something your parent will love. We’re excited to welcome the public to enjoy the array of local vendors\, explore the grounds\, and shop for plants for you and your mother’s garden. Best of all\, this event is admission-free and open to the public\, so that all can celebrate their beloved maternal figures.

SUMMARY:2025 Flywheel Zine Fest
DESCRIPTION:The Flywheel ZineFest returns for another year at the Holyoke Senior Center. Come see dozens of amazing artists and zine creators from throughout the northeast. \nWhat’s a zine? A zine (ZEEN; short for magazine or fanzine) is a small-circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images. Zines are the product of either a single person or of a very small group\, and are popularly photocopied into physical prints for circulation. A fanzine (blend of fan and magazine) is a non-professional and non-official publication produced by enthusiasts of a particular cultural phenomenon (such as a literary or musical genre) for the pleasure of others who share their interest. The term was coined in an October 1940 science fiction fanzine by Russ Chauvenet and popularized within science fiction fandom\, entering the Oxford English Dictionary in 1949.

SUMMARY:Soil Analysis\, Carbon Sampling and Designing for Resilience / Análisis de Suelos\, Muestreo de Carbono y Diseño para la Resiliencia
DESCRIPTION:In this hands-on workshop\, participants will learn how to accurately sample soils for comprehensive chemical analysis\, including soil organic carbon (SOC) and nutrient profiles. We will analyze in situ the biological\, physical and chemical properties of soils\, including compaction\, infiltration rate\, soil texture and structure\, surface biology\, soil aggregate stability\, root behavior\, soil temperature and bulk density. This integrated approach provides a thorough understanding of soil health by combining quantitative data with qualitative observations. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about Landscape Interactions’ collaboration with Nuestras Raíces to transform a portion of their working landscape into a refugia for at-risk native bees\, butterflies and moths through the incorporation of biodiverse\, perennial and productive native plant communities.
