DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night of queer and trans heresy (drag\, loud music\, and short archival queer/trans films to benefit the Sexual Minorities Archives) \nFlywheel presents\nA Benefit for @sexualminoritiesarchives featuring: \nJUANA B ONTOP @juanabontop\nTEMPESTADE + CLOCKSERUM @_mal_educada_ + @clockserum\nFEMININE AGGRESSION @feminine_aggression \nSelected video shorts from the SMA’s extensive queer and trans history VHS collection and an archival curation featuring items created by FTM activist Lou Sullivan\, the Valley’s leather community\, transgender visionary Ben Power\, and more. \nHolyoke Media\n1 Court Plaza\, Holyoke\, MA \nDoors at 7:30pm / Show at 8pm\n$10-20+ suggested donation\nMasks & earplugs free at door \nThis year marks the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Minorities Archives (SMA)\, one of the oldest and largest LGBQTIA2S+ archives in the United States\, located in Holyoke\, MA.  Now occupying most of an historic Victorian house affectionately called “The Pink Lady\,” the Archives has been stewarded for most of its five decades by curator Ben Power and many dedicated community volunteers and board directors. \nAs a community resource with a mission to remain outside of institutional/university ownership\, the SMA is currently struggling to make ends meet–to pay monthly utilities and basic operating costs.  As a national treasure located right in our backyard\, we are hosting this benefit to help the SMA continue its work as a steward of 10\,000s of pieces of queer media and a community resources for researchers\, students\, activists and LGBQTIA2S+ folks looking to understand more about the people and movements that make up their lineage. \nPlease visit the SMA’s website\, Facebook page and Instagram and @sexualminoritiesarchive for more info as well as episodes from the “Out of the Archives” podcast. \nFlier by Crystal Ford
