An homage to Irish heritage in Holyoke Originating as a modest celebration many years ago, this event has evolved into a prominent series of activities, ultimately becoming New England's foremost Saint Patrick's celebration. The parade will kick off earlier this year at 11:10am from Kmart Plaza on Rt. 5 – Northampton Street and ends on High Street. This class can help provide clarity on the role it serves in the body and how to incorporate it into a meal plan designed to manage diabetes. There will be a One-hour education session and Q&A with instructor and registered dietitian, Marissa Chiapperino, in addition to a Two-hour hands-on cooking activity in which you will prepare and take home 4-5 recipes that align with the educational topic discussed this session.

One hour, all ages friendly! This one-hour make-and-take workshop introduces participants to some basic techniques of hand-drawn floral illustration. Participants will learn tips and techniques for drawing various flowers, including penciling, inking, and coloring, as well as composition pointers for patterns and floral bunches, wreaths, and word art. Demonstrations will include a few types of flowers and styles, including the poppy, and participants will be encouraged to use their imaginations as they illustrate their own set of notecards, suitable for framing or mailing. Registration required, $10 materials fee.

Considered by many to be the greatest American architect of the 19th century, Henry Hobson Richardson and his firm were commissioned to design more than two dozen railroad stations, many along the east-west line of the Boston & Albany Railroad. Only one, his 1885 Holyoke Passenger Station, was completed in his lifetime on the north-south line between New York and Montreal (the Connecticut River Railroad).
